Hi there,
Just spent a wad of cash on a few litres of Castrol Syntrax 75W-140 for Limited Slip Differentials.
I came across a thread where Hoppy suggested that Shell Spirax 85W-140 for diffs. Am I going to run into problems using the LSD Castrol Lube over the Shell Spirax in my IFS?
The following thread did not get much attention and has two contradictory answers.

Think you will get different answers here..oils and greases can become a difficult subject.
..but this is how I understand it:
The LSD oils have additives in specifically designed for the workings of the clutch or friction plates called 'Friction Modifiers"
It should be fine in a non-LSD diff, but not the other way around.
Only negative I know of is that the additives in LSD oils or just in short FMs
causes a faster rate of oxidation of the oil,
which simply means it won't last that long.
(hence the reason why I never brake a seal on an oil can until I use it)
(Have a look on a Toy WS atf can..they specifically mention it)
So it's a 50/50 I guess.
The LSD oil will do no harm, but I'll prefer to have the Spirax.

Decided to return the stuff and got Shell Spirax.
