Diesel fuel as engine flush

Post by dalkill »

I was discussing, with brother in law, my sluggish nature of the 130 corolla i drive as daily vehicle.
wife drives exact same car, and even with rings being dodge, it still pulls much better than mine.

so swaar tells me i have to drain oil, throw in some diesel fuel (not sure 50/500 :D: ) and idle car for about 5 min... drain diesel, then change oil filter and then put in clean oil.

he has done it to a couple of cars, including someone who also complained car being sluggish and had spetacular results.

apparently diesel cleans out all the nooks and crannies of gunk buildup and flushes it all out. theory seems sound?? anybody heard / tried this before?

Done it on my old KZ before. It works. Diesel is a oil and has enough lubrication properties to keep stuff from wearing at idle speeds. BUT the residual diesel left behind after the flush will dilute the next round of oil. So your next service interval after the flush must be short.

I keep a jerry of dirty diesel in the garage for cleaning oily and coked up parts (EGR valve). It has wonderful diluting and cleaning properties. Followed by good old sunlite liquid to get rid of the diesel.

I have done it on my previous vehicles also. For many years.
Impressive results indeed.
The new oil stays cleaner for much longer.
The only thing I do different is to keep the sump plug off
to let the diesel drain for a whole night or so.
I also only do it every 2nd service and not with every service.
I got arrested for driving naked. I guess I shouldn’t have put four wheels, an engine, and a steering wheel on my bathtub.
I’m a do-it-yourself kind of lover.
