My 2006 3.0 D4D yesterday decided that it should permanently inform me that I have Airbags, it warning light stays on permanently
Anyone know what could cause this?
Any ideas on how to rectify it?
Maybe disconnect the battery for a while to reset the error?

Very common problem mate. It'll be the airbag clock spring in the back of the steering wheel. As I said it's very common, toyota did a recall on them years ago.

You can still take it to Toyota for the recall. They will repair it free

They'll be able to look up you chassis number an see if it's done b4. If it hasn't they'll do it free otherwise get a clock spring on ebay and do it yourself.

even if it was done before they will probably do it again.
They did my Fortuner twice. Apparently the batch they used for the first recall was defective

I accidentally disturbed one of the wire plugs of the airbag sensor, that caused the light to come on when I was busy fixing one of the air vents. Maybe just check behind the glovebox if there is not a loose wire plug

Make sure ya have the battery disconnected for a good ten minutes b4 ya fiddle with any airbag wires. Wouldn't want an airbag goin off in ya face!! It hurts!

Hi all, I have a brand new Clock Spring or Spiral Cable for a 2013 Toyota Hilux for sale.

This tread was a real lifesaver when I needed it. My horn only worked intermediately, only when turning the steering wheel.
I was in Kenya at the time and had to buy a new one from Toyota in Stellenbosch because in Kenya, the Toyota recall was not valid.
And as you will agree, you can’t drive through Africa without a horn.

So once i got back in SA i send the bakkie in for the Clock Spring recall (free replacement), so now i still have a brand new Clock Spring (7000 km only).
I paid R 2700 for this piece of plastic!
Will sell for R 1500, and help you replace yours, even give you a cold beer while your wait. I’m in Stellenbosch.

Phone me at 082 seven 643 seven 32
Regards Ruben

What are the chances they still honor the recall today?

Does anybody know?

Gaan vra. Ek dink hulle behoort nog as dit nie alreeds gedoen is op die voertuig nie.

Download toe MyToyota app op jou foon en jy kan sien watter recall is uitstaande. Gaan teen die VIN no
Of hulle vooraad het is 'n hele ander saak
