Power steering pump output fittings

Post by niclemaitre »

Hi there

My power steering lost pressure on the way home the other night and I've found the problem. The fitting on the output side of the pump has sheered off at the pump, where the metal line comes into the pump. It doesn't appear to be a standard hydraulic fitting at all and so is probably only available from the dealers at some astronomical price (I'll go there later today and find out). What I'm hoping is that someone has one lying around somewhere that they'd be willing to sell me?

I'm not sure exactly which powersteering pump I have, if it's from the original 4Y engine in the bakkie or if it's from the new 3L engine that was transplanted into it.

The pump, the part that broke is below the nut, on the top right.

The only marking I can find on the pump body:

And finally the part that broke:

That's a pretty common fitting, but without the locking lug attached. If the dealers are too outlandish with their pricing, you could take it to a hydraulic supplier and they can replace to pipe section by sweating the old one out, bending up a new one and sweating it back into the original couplings.
