OME shocks are a decent quality, standing up to rough use over a long time. So I'm wondering what makes you think they're tired. Have they been tested?

HDP's not much cheaper than the OME's...I fitted Safari's in the end that I got from Mikem, the ones they use with their 50mm lift kits.

Also thought the shocks were gone, but it is more the blades that are getting pap in the front.

Hi stef,

my mikem blades and torsion bars are fairly new. the shocks are much older. I can get HDPS for R1650 a shock, OME is R2550 a shock.
than why I am asking. is OME that much better if yes then I get OME again, or are we just paying for the brand name

Robert did you consider Bilstein shocks ? They are expensive but serviceable.

I have had both shocks in one of my previous bakkies. Gabriel Safaries and HDP. HDP is leagues better than the Safari. I would buy the HDP if the price is right for you.

Would I buy it again? Not sure. Nobody that I asked in Cape Town seems to sell Gabriels.

Eish ...R2500 now...last I checked OME's were just on R2k each. Would have loved the HDPs but didn't have the appetite at the time for over R3k so I got the Safaris.
I'd say go for the HDP's, they are in a different league than the Safaris.
