Hilux 22R conversion to KZ-T

Post by Dreabow »

Good day

I am needing some advise on this engine of mine, I have done 6000km with the engine since I have fitted it
into my bakkie It ran fine from the first day, I changed the oil and filter when I done 5000km and the engine was quite, all of a sudden a soft noise started at the top of the engine as soon as the revs go up when idling its normal. Its like a grrrrrrrrrr noise I was told it could be a diesel knock but I somehow I don't think so as I have had the injector pump done as well as the injectors twice and the noise has got louder. The engine has not lost any power or use any oil no smoke out the exhaust either, Any ideas??

Sounds a bit like a broken rocker arm, I'd take the rocker cover off and go from there.
I used to know everything. Now I know nothing

Sounds more if you have to adjust the valve clearances I hope. Worst case can be a piston ring not seating correctly.
