2.5 D 2KD Turbo Reconditioning

Post by Jurgen10 »

Hi all,

My retired dad drives a 2005 2.5 Diesel (2KD ) Hilux 4x4 , he has replaced the turbo twice with a reconditioned unit, the last one about 8000km ago.
The second replacement is now again starting to make screeching noises from hell.... (as soon as the warrantee expires)

Turbo Serial no. 17201-30120.

The Local turbo "specialist" in town's immediate response was that the turbo does not get enough oil but we did an oil pressure test and it shows above 3 bar at 2000 RPM at the turbo.

Is there any specifics one should look out for on these reconditioned turbo's or any specific turbo shop one can trust to fix it properly?

Any comments or advice will be welcome.

If you are a diesel fan, raise your hand.
If you aren't raising your hand, raise your standards!

A 4x4 is merely a machine that enables you to get stuck further away from civilization.
