Towing and VSC/TRC/ABS query

Hi all.
Been absent a bit lately due to family and work comitments.
Anyway...I've had my 2013 Hilux D4D 3L since May and as above's reasons I was only able to tow my XT120 trailer on the weekend when fetching it from Natal caravans and Marine after it's annual service (great people and service). On leaving I noticed my BRAKE, ABS,VSC and TRC warning lights came on. It was like this all the way home. After uncoupling, all was back to normal. I know when in low range and with diff lock on this happens. Why when towing, and is this normal? I would think while towing, these features would help.
Please can someone confirm this is normal and why this is so?
