Hi Guys,
I have this strange problem:
When connection my 2016 Hilux D/Cab 4x4 to my caravan, all the lights (indicators, brake lights) on caravan work fine, except the tail lights. They come on and off (blink). I can hear a switch under the dash clicking.
When removing a bulb from the caravan, it works fine. As if something is drawing too much current?
If I connect a smaller trailer, it works fine.
If I connect the caravan to an older Hilux, all the lights work fine.
I have replaced the wiring on the caravan and also installed another (used) tow ECU.
Has anybody else experienced the same problem?
Any advice?

Sounds like the draw is too high and a circuit protection is clicking in and out. Maybe replace the tail lights with LED's.

Good idea - I will try it. Do you know if there are LED "bulbs" available that slot into the old bulbs place. (Without having to replace the whole light unit.)

I'm sure there are. Check out http://www.4x4direct.co.za/130-car-replacement-lamps
Cheaper than modifying the vehicle circuitry / electronics or replacing the tail light fitting.

I installed two 6W lamps and it solved the problem! The Hilux does not want too high current. Thanks a lot for your help, Mud Dog!
