Help with difflock wiring?

Post by Baasvark »

Hope someone can help.

I replaced both diffs on my SFA with kzte as I did a kzte motor + gearbox conversion.

However no-one in my area knows how to wire the diff locks....

Is there a wiring diagram (can't find one on google) that someone can share with me or must I rather consider after market lockers?

And if I must go the after market route - what would you suggest?

Also need some steering components - pitman arm etc, are these spares still available for a '95 lux and where would I find them?

Thanks in advance.

I assume it's an electric locker. Was your bakkie OEM wired for a locker?

Some wiring examples here .... http://automotorpad.com/toyota/343579-t ... iring.html

There's lot of wiring schematics available on Google, also a fair bit of info here on the forum.

Look here (last few posts more relevant) ..... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9921

Also some useful links in that post. Good luck. :winkx:

What's wrong with your pitman arm? Apparently the "ball" can be replaced.

It seems the "ball" is worn. Cannot set the alignment.

Also the bar from the pitman to the steering arms(???) Needs replacement.

Anyhow I'll get the lowdown from my mechanic and look around.

Thanks for the help.

Andy the wiring needs to be redone. There is no OEM wiring available.

Thanks for the links.

Called a "draglink". :winkx:

The whole unit doesn't need replacement - replacement cups (inside the ends) are available. Try agents or N1 Bakkie Spares.

No mechanic required - just remove the pin from each end and screw out the cap - behind it is a spring that holds the cups over the balls on the pitman and steering arm.

I'm not familiar with the E-locker motor workings, but if there is a cut-out built in, then it's easy. As the motor is energised a worm-gear turns a wheel that activates the locker fork. There must be a contact inside that is made when in the locked position - either this cuts power to the motor so that it stops running or it triggers a relay to cut the power. You will need to verify how it is intended to work. From there it's easy.

The actuator motors do give hassles when they accumulate muck, so it would be a good thing to strip and clean.
