SFA Hilux what to do ??

Post by Heinrichjb458 »

Hi Guys ,

I have a 96' Hilux 4x4.

The other day I was driving without water in the radiator and the bakkie died on me.

After about 10mins the engine could crank over again.

It has a 3000d (5L) engine in.

Now what to do :

1. Fix the engine ?
2.Fit a 3.0d4d (is it possible and how ? )
3.Lexus v8 and why rather than the d4d ?

I would prefer to keep the original gearbox to save some costs...on that point I don't have a big budget so ja...

Any help would be appretiated !

Myne onlangs so gedoen en gellukkig sover.

When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

WL’s are good engines. My neighbour has a courier company and his Ranger with the WL had to be rebuilt now for the first time after 700k km. But they are getting scarce second hand. And expensive. Around R25k

As jy dit kan bekostig is die D4D jou beste opsie as jy by Toyota wil bly.

What about replacing with same engine.
Not sure about availability of those engines, but since they were not as popular, you may pick it up for cheaper.
Or even cheaper, get a 5L sub-assembly ??

https://www.gumtree.co.za/a-car-replace ... 0019000009

Also , another option may be fong kong 4Y. You power will be about the same, but consumption... eish.
Not a diesel, but it goes back to the original engine makeup... or at least the closests... which could add value to your vehicle.
