Advice Needed ??

Post by Brombeer88 »

Thanx vir 'n great forum.

Clutch replacement can be a bit of a mission but it's pretty straight forward. Damn gearboxes are HEAVY! Of course the release bearing must be replaced at the same time, no question. It's often a good idea to replace the pressure plate as well especially if it has burned / scoured from slipping. Check the flywheel as well, if the clutch rivets have scoured the surface, it should be skimmed but if the ring-gear is badly worn it's better to replace with new. The tricky part is lining up the clutch plate when bolting back onto the flywheel, but there is a locating dowel tool that's useful for this. If it's misalighned, you will have a problem locating the spiggot shaft into the bush bearing on the flywheel and if forced will warp / damage the clutch plate resulting in clutch shudder. the spiggot bearing on the flywheel does normally not require replacement, but give it a little graphite grease before assembly. It's always a good idea to have a helper with removing and refitting the box, unless you have a nice big trolley jack.
Good luck.

Chris

It could also be gearbox cross member mounts that are a little loose ... not that common, but possible.

Bennie

Ek sal more die cross member nagaan.

Goed of sleg ?

*Sien jy's ook in Doorpoort....
