Which Brake Pads for my SFA??

Post by Zantus »

I need to replace the pads on my SFA, not upgrading right now, just straight replacement.
Which make do you guys recommend? Not sure what make the currect ones are, but they are extremely noisy!

Hi Barto

I am sitting in a lonely hotel room in CT :( I think the best pads to use would be OE or ATE.

I'll get a price from the stealers and compare.
Justin, we're going to Jagtvlakte next Saturday afternoon, try to pop around there and check out my lux.

When I swapped my brakes for the PowerBrake setup they did not have pads in stock so the guy there told me to use Ferrodo either Ceramic/Platinum but I can not remember which. The one is too soft and will make your rims black but the other one works great I think it is the one with more metal in the compound ( I guess it is the Platinum one). Maybe the guys at the local Spare Shop can tell you which one is which.

Not very well at all unfortunately, but I brought it home for a while. I will use it to go to Vleesbaai at the end of the month and then take it back once I've made up my mind about a few things......

Use ATE, But make sure that the brake discs are not warped and that they do not have heigh spots, if they do then you might be able to have them skimmed, but a company called Alpha supply disc new at a very excellent price.

Have been using Ferodo Ceramics for the last 20000ks and have had no problems. :D

Simon, I agree with the Alpha brake discs, I used to use them on my golf and never had a problem with them, and the price meant I could replace them when worn instead of skimming. I have never liked to skim brakes :!: And hopefully will never have to.

We even buy the huge brake discs from Alpha for the trucks, the trucks that I look after have discs front and rear.
