Intercooler and chip for 2.5 D4D

Post by ToyX4 »

I very interested in fitting an intercooler and chip to my 2.5 D4D.
They say about 20% increase in power and torque - 75Kw to 90kw, 260NM to 312Nm.

In other markets they sell a 2.5 with intercooler as standard, so I believe the motor can handle it.

I know there will be warranty issues. My van is almost out of warranty anyway, sometime next year.

Do you guys have any thoughts?

Not what want to hear...... but keep her standard, or replace with a 3.0D4D...... well my thoughts anyway.

Reports I heard, is that the intercooler does not make such a noticeble difference, and playing with the electronics, may find you experiencing excessive fuel usage amoungst other problems.

Personally, I've had my fair share of conversions and modifications, and although it all panned out in the end, it was about 1 year before I ironed out all the nigglies, and was once again confident.

Now, when it comes to mechanics and electronic, if I can't afford to buy it as a standard option, then I'll live without it.

My thoughts, and it's gut more than fact....... good luck with the decision.

Yes, I guess its a stupid idea.

Do you mean put the 3.0D4D in? That will be a pricey affair

That's even a worse idea.

No, if it's more vooma you're looking for, sell the 2.5D4D and buy a 3.0D4D.

You can't campare the two vehicles. The 3.0D4D will leave the 2.5D4D standing in it's tracks. I test drove both, and that 3.0's got guts.

I was happy with the performace of the 2.5D4D.

The biggest deciding factors for me were:

1) All the electronic extras on the 3.0.
2) The plastic and chrome "nice to have" but scratch me in the bush stuff of the 3.0.
3) The R50k price difference.

If there was a 3.0 4x4 S/C, but I need a S/C on the farm.

But I'm very happy with my 2.5 anyway. Was just wondering.

If I buy a D/C I'll buy an SFA.

Thanks for the advice.

Hummm, I see what you mean..... the 3.0 only in 4x2.

So maybe it's about a 3.0 4x2, and SFA.....
