Part no's for normal service items

Post by 3RZ »

I like to order parts by their part no's when doing my services, this prevents having to go back and return the incorrect parts supplied by the not so enthusiastic spares salesman and also finding out you have the wrong spare/s once your vehicle is immobile. I write the correct part no's for the spares on the front page of the service book.

You can supplement this thread with the part no's for the different models.

2004 2.7 Hilux DC 4x4 Legend 35 (Should be the same for the other 2.7 models)

Fuel filter GUD-E82 FRAM-G8971
Air filter GUD-ADG933 FRAM-CA5965
Oil Filter GUD-Z217 FRAM-PH4985
Spark plugs NGK-BKR5EYA
Front brake pads Ferodo Platinum-FDB797 ATE-AG577
Rear Brake shoes ATE-819

2004 2.7 3RZ - Ribbed belts for alternator, WP, AC, PS
Goodyear Gatorback
4PK1100
4PK940
5PK865

1999 2.7 3RZ - Ribbed belts (Fanbelts):
Good Year Gatorback
Aircon belt - 4PK 872
Alternator/waterpump belt - 5PK 872
fan/powersteering belt - 4PK 1100

First no indicates the no of ribs, no after the letter indicates the effective inside length of the belt. Most manufacturers use the same code. The numbers are also on the OEM belts, so you can double check.

2.7 3RZ bearing in tensioner pulley:
NSK 6301

wiper blades 1999-2005 Hilux
Left Champion BU15-18 and right B15-20

Front Wheel Bearings
Timken part numbers
Inner Bearing - Timken KJLM104948/10
Outer Bearing - Timken KLM102949/10-TI
Olie seel - 65x85x8

Front Hub Seals
Toyota Part Numbers
Hub Lock O-ring part no 4353260010
Hub Lock "cover" gasket part no 4353160010
Axle Gasket part no 4342260010

My pleasure Simon, it's the type of info I like to see on the vehicle specific forums as it sometimes takes some digging to get the correct part no's. Especially on the stuff like the fanbelts.

Hi Willem

I also wrote down the part numbers in my SRX's manual a couple of years ago because i had the same experience of being supplied the wrong parts.
Thanks for the part numbers for the 2700i I have just bought one last week and those numbers will come in handy when I service her in a few weeks time.
I see the oil filter is in quite an awkward place do you have any tips on how to get to it?
Also where abouts is the fuel filter? How often should you change it?
I presume the 3RZ has a cam chain like the 22R not a belt?

The oil filter isn't that hard to get to. I slide under the car with a mechanics creeper, you can't see it but you can feel it and you will most probably have some oil running down your arm to your armpit. The fuel filter is located on the right hand side of the engine bay gainst the wheel arch if you are standing in front of the engine. I replace the fuel filter every 20000Km's just to be on the safe side, if your filter is dirty the pump has to work harder and may not last as long. The filter on my wife's car is supposed to be replaced after 60000km's, at 25000km's the car's performance was down and I replaced the filter - it looked like mud that came out of the filter.

The 3RZ-FE'S cams are drive by a chain.

Thanks!
The car has been serviced by the agents, so I better check it out carefully.
My other hilux was also serviced by the agents when I got it.
It was 7 years old at the time and looked like it had never had a coolant change and brakefluid change.I heard some stories of cars that were serviced by the agents whose fuel pumps have packed up because the fuel filter was never changed.
When removing the oil filter which tool is best?I have the one with a chain and a socket attachment on the end. Also it looks as if you have to remove the big guard that protects the engine to get to the filter.

Not necessary to remove anything, slide underneath the vehicle behind the front right hand side wheel, under the driver side door and have a look with a flashlight, you will see what I mean. I just use my hand to loosen and tighten the filter.

I spoke to the previous owner a few minutes ago he seems to think the fuel filter was changed at the last service.I must check I saw an invoice in the cuppyhole with the manual.
The bakkie was last serviced in February last year and has only done 8000km(128000km at the moment) since then so when it hits 130000km I am going to give it a service.

Guys

Can I confirm what plugs you are using on your 4Y engines. Some say they use BP5EY (I think this is the one the manual gives) others BP6ES. Who uses what and why?

BP6ES is in the middle of the spectrum and dissipates the heat quicker than a BP5ES.
BP7ES dissipate the heat even quicker.

I have BP6ES as required by Brospeed as well and they are fine.

The AUS NGK website gives the BP5EY as the correct plug wit the BP6EY as the colder option for the 4Y

Willem enlighten us is the diffs between ES and EY.

BTW I have been using 6ES with 1.2mm gap on the electronic dizzysYs on 4 and it work well, and most guys has Brospead conversions in any case.

Also how many of you remove the washers from the plugs. I was told that the little alu tube the plug fits into is not only a oil seal but actually the plug's gas seal as well. I have seen a few vans where the guys did not remove those plug washers and it then eats into the alu tubes. I always remove the washers.

I for one just screw them in as they come out of the packet. I can't see why they would manufactured it like that if it is not supposed to be user like that

I do not think the 22R has the same alu tube thing as the 4Y, so in your case it is needed.

All plugs come the same it would not make sense to keep other part no's for 4Y's plugs just without the washer. What does the 4Y service manuals recommend with or without?

ES - E=19mm thread reach, S=standard super copper centre electrode
EY - E=19mm thread reach, Y=V grooved centre electrode with extra projection.

I will post two new threads for the heat range and spark plug codes

Hi Willem

I see the owners manual gives valve clearances for the 3RZ motor

Doesnt the 3RZ have self adjusting tappets?

No, it uses shims to adjust the clearance, if the clearance isn't correct you replace the shim with a thicker or thinner one corresponding to the amount you want to increase or decrease the clearance.

Stephen I will have to check, but I don't think the clearance will change easily. I don't need to check mine I have changed heads 3 times in the last 50000km's and I am contemplating preparing another head. It gets better with each upgrade

Part numbers for service items on all models

Post by pietpetoors »

I want to create a page for each Hilux model where I list all the part numbers for the service items we frequently use.
The reason for this: Sometimes you want to replace something, but you first have to remove it before you can go buy the new one. So if we create a page with a list of part numbers you can easily see which parts to buy.

Can we also minimize discussions in this topic. I know it will be necessary to sometimes make a comment especially if somebody listed a part number and your model uses a different part number as the one listed.

If you know of any part numbers please list them here. Please mention for hat vehicle or engine it is for and also mention the brand name for the part. The part number of a GUD or Fram filter differs so you cannot just say 4y Oil filter = Z84 or whatever, we have to know the brand name as well.

I will collect the data from this topic and add them on separate pages the same way I do with the members articles. I will create a separate page for each model ie SFA , IFS or Vigo

There are so many converted vehicles that you can also submit part numbers for the 7MG and Lexus motors as well

Willem I did not see that you had the same idea. I now locked my topic at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8320&start=0 and added my details to your post.

Note that the fanbelt sizes differ from my 1999 model to your 2004 model.
Anybody knows why?

Thanks Pieter,

Willem, can you possible edit your thread heading to include all models, or maybe we need to put this into a sticky with sub-headings that contains the various engine types?

Pieter,

I know there are 2 types of EMU's and even the latter VVTi version(has another model code I think) differs considerably, but the 1999 - mid 2002 models should be the same.

Seems like the only guys who would like to share part numbers are the 3RZ owners.

I started a static page to put up all the part numbers. You guys can add part numbers for any Hilux or engine (used in Hiluxes) here and I will transfer it to the static page at http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/hilux-part-numbers

QMS staan vir Queen Motor Spares of anders gestel Queenstown Midas. BMC is 'n part plek op Aliwal - Noord, andersins bekend as Inkosi Spares.

"2.7 3RZ bearing in tensioner pulley:
NSK 6301"

Both tensioner puleys uses the same number bearing on the 2001 Raider DC 4x4. The one for the AC belt and the one for the fan belt.

Spare Wheel Carrier for the IFS 4x4 models.

TSA will give you a fancy model number, and the cost is R1200 plus VAT.

But you can substitute this with another model number, part # SUJ51-D3001 which is also 4x4 rated and is exactly the same physical part, but at a far more comfortable R410.00, VAT inclusive.

Hound Dog was treated to a new as the cable broke in the old one.

Note that when you measure the resistance of the Resistive Spark Plug leads, the resistance should be 25,000 Ohm (25kΩ). Use the appropriate range on your DMM.

Oil Filter: Z84
Spark Plugs: BP5EY / BP5ES check in the catalogue as different plugs are used for pre Electronic distributor models and those that have electronic ignition fitted.

Alternator V-Belt: 4PK830
Power Steering V-Belt: P473

Tailgate handle for SFA Import Bin (Centre Handle): Part no for Toyota System: 6923089101

I'm not sure if this is the appropriate heading for this question but I just got of the phone with Goldco in Durban rd, Bellville and they quoted me Approx. R620 for all the service items (GUD filters and NGK plugs but ex. Oil) and the ribbed belts for my '01 2700i. How do those prices compare with anybody elses?

You can supplement this thread with the part no's for the different models.

2004 2.7 Hilux DC 4x4 Legend 35 (Should be the same for the other 2.7 models)

Fuel filter GUD-E82 FRAM-G8971
Air filter GUD-ADG933 FRAM-CA5965
Oil Filter GUD-Z217 FRAM-PH4985
Spark plugs NGK-BKR5EYA
Front brake pads Ferodo Platinum-FDB797 ATE-AG577
Rear Brake shoes ATE-819

2004 2.7 3RZ - Ribbed belts for alternator, WP, AC, PS
Goodyear Gatorback
4PK1100
4PK940
5PK865

1999 2.7 3RZ - Ribbed belts (Fanbelts):
Good Year Gatorback
Aircon belt - 4PK 872
Alternator/waterpump belt - 5PK 872
fan/powersteering belt - 4PK 1100

First no indicates the no of ribs, no after the letter indicates the effective inside length of the belt. Most manufacturers use the same code. The numbers are also on the OEM belts, so you can double check.

2.7 3RZ bearing in tensioner pulley:
NSK 6301

wiper blades 1999-2005 Hilux
Left Champion BU15-18 and right B15-20
My vehicle is a 2001 2700i D/C 4x4 SRX. I discovered that I needed to use the 4pk 940 belt for the A/C belt not the 4pk872. Anybody wish to offer a reason for this? I have no clue. Maybe the compressor was changed for a new one along the way?

Craig, I have a 1999 2.7 and it also uses 4PK 872
All I can think is that the compressor has been replaced with a non-standard compressor.

Has anyone looked at "toyodiy.com" for part numbers. By adding your VIN or Chassis number, most part numbers can be obtained?

So my question is which of the two is the correct FRAM part number? :eh:
