Steering shaft boot for 01 KZTE d/c 4x4

Hi Chaps

I have a question for the parts savvy ones amoungst you. Where the steering shaft goes through the firewall towards the steering rack, there is a black metal plate surround with (what looks like a small cv jount cover) that allows the shaft to go through the plate as well as keep water and dirt from entering the cab.

Toyota tells me that one CANNOT buy the "boot" separate and the plate +boot = ZAR850 :evil:

Can someone please point me to another supplier for such a rubber boot, as it is not a safety critical item, I don't mind if it does not come in a packet with a Toyota sticker on it

I went to Toyota Melrose. The whole unit including the plate is less than R300 !! Ordered.

Any advice please on how to replace this item. I have read about keeping the steering wheel in position, but more detail would be appreciated.

Die ding kom by die "spiral" waar jou hooter en air bag draade op jou stuurwiek in plug. Hy kan net ek dink 5 keer in die ronte draai dan breek hy af (pop huis vol geld) het myne gebreek toe ek die boot vervang het.
Hier is wat ek voorstel as ek reg kan onthou:
1: Lock jou stuurwiel
2: Merk die cupling en die "sliding yoke"
3:Maak die cupling los binne die cab
4:Maak die yoke en boot los
5:Sit nuwe boot op die shaft
6:Sit al die merke weer in lyn en maak alles vas
Hoop ek onthou wat ek moes gedoen het sterkte
