Installation of a winch

My very well used Warn M8000 is currently being serviced at CI-Automotive in City Deep.

The new winch plate has been put into place by Decleor 4x4 and I am getting a brand new solenoid box made up by Acot500. So the winch will need to be bolted down and hooked up to get a new life.

Is it rather advisable that I take it to a professional for the job to be done??

Traveler,

You can get the bolts and nuts from CIA to secure the winch to the plate, run the + and - wire to your battery and your sorted.

Heinrich, I know most of the installers have the remote cable plug in front at the winch. In ours we have had it installed inside the cab. So your winch cable remote gets plugged in right next to the cig lighter. Also the plus in front often tends to get mud and gunk in.

Thanks Mark.
I was thinking of putting the solenoid box somewhere where it would be out the way and where it will not dirty too easy.

Yip inside the cab works, then you don't warry about the cable, just remember to lift the bonnet... :!:

Thanks very much.
Will do that. Another Idea that I had and it ensures that you will lift the bonnet was to install the solenoid box against the firewall next to the brake master cylinder.

I was more worried about connecting the solenoid pack to the winch than really the winch itself. But I have found this pretty handy.

I must start planning the electrical installation of the winch.
Heinrich what size cables did you use?I want to replace the originals.
Where did you fit the control box.I dont want mine on the outside.Either inside the bumper or in the engine bay.
What is the best connectors to use?I think Chris(Elders) used the BH 175 amp.Do one need to put inline fuses?
