Na die back yard playing het die winch se coupling gebreek.(1 recovery). Ek het toe besluit om self n coupling uit staal te draai.
Die naweek by klein letaba was ñ goeie tyd om hom te toets aangesien altwee nawe op die grond gelê het. Ek weet die ideale winch is n 7000 of hoër, maar met die spasie in die bamper is die 5000 al wat gepas het. Hy het die trok oor n meter deur die modder en water getrek tot op vaste grond.
Vir n 5000lbs winch dink ek dit is baie goed nadat ek die coupling verander het na staal.
Ek weet jy kan nie die rook terug sit in die motor nie, maar ek glo ook nie n mens sal veel erger recovery doen nie, as wat die winch al klaar deur was.

Nico, watse coupling was dit? .... en as dit nie van tevore uit staal gemaak is, waarvan was dit dan gemaak? (Miskien 'n pic of twee?)

Die ou coupling is van n tipe aluminum gemaak. Ek het een gemaak van mildsteel. Die coupling sit binne in die drom hy maak eers die briek oop voor hy die drom draai. Vir een keer se recovery en 2 keer se kabel oprol het die ou coupling baie verweer. Ek sal probeer om more foto's van die ou coupling te laai.

Hi Nico, dra jy enige verdere kennis van die KEW winches. Na ek so maand en n half gelede email Japan toe gestuur het nog nie antwoord gekry nie (miskien nog oppad). Is dit a heavy duty winch ? Het blykbaar nie fieldcoils nie maar magnete, maak dit hom sterker ? Ek het die 8 000 sonder die handbriek - onder las rol hy baie stadig af, ervaar jy dieselfde ?

Everdt, die 8000 se hy kan omternt 3400kg trek. Hoe grooter die getal hoe grooter gewig kan hy trek. Ek glo die opset behoort die selfde te wees tussen die winches so jy sal n clutch he om hom afte rol en dan ook oprol/afrol funksie. hy het n meganiese briek wat veerbelaaiis wat eers losmaak voordat die drom begin opwen.

Dankie Nico ek neem aan die lever op regterkant is dan die briek in die een posisie en in die ander posisie kan die kabel vrylik afgerol word. Dus as die winch stadig afdraai is die veer opsit nie meer goed nie. Beweeg jou winch dus glad nie onder las nie. Waar kan ek oplees oor die storie en die samestelling asb ?

Thanks for posting the pics, Nico. That's an awkward piece to manufacture ... lots of milling. Glad you were able to get one made. :thumbup:

Is that part not made from a soft metal, so that it breaks when overloaded, before other more expensive(and dangerous) parts break or become flying missiles/shrapnel?

i agree, but 1 recovery and the wheels were just spinning in the mud, not even dug in and it looks like that, makes a person think. 1700kg moved. maybe it has been tested in china to the extreme and they give me the leftovers. :blushing: :shock2:

Made it out of 2 pieces. used welding to build up the sides that disengage the clutch and filed it of
to size. then welded the 2 pieces together after i aligned them.
