Haven't seen them in use, but a lot depends on the rating me thinks, :silent: unless if you're secretly training for world's strongman 2013 :mocking:

I was thinking the same thing cos i have a 2ton one sitting at home.....
Thought of adding a block and tackle 3 / 4:1 inbetween the vehicle and the recovery point and using that as the hand winch......

Im sure it will work but will be a sloooooowwww process

Thanks Johno, so it could be useful, I was thinking about a sideways pull where there is now way of another
vehicle to get in a side ways position to assist, something like that.........

Sal daai doen tjom, maar ek was ook al in n sywaartse recovery betrokke en dis moeilik as daar geen voertuig in posisie kan kom nie, in so geval kan mens n soortgelyke hand winch anker teen n boom of rots en sywaarts trek as dit nodig is?

Net idees......

Yis Johannes,

Jy ry 'n Hilux...

Net my twee sente

Cheers,

PS.

Johannes : Los daai ding in jou prentjie .

Those little hand winches are quite handy, but not very strong .... OK to perhaps stabilise a vehicle, and the winching distance is small .... only about 1.2m at a time. I had one in the old lux that I kept behind the seat and used mainly to hoist carcasses into the load bin if I was hunting alone. Worked well for that.

The Tirfor (French brand name that is now generally used for these winches) is a proper winch with decent ratings, but they're heavy and bulky .... maybe the Warn equivalent is a bit better.

;-)
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

Mark ek verstaan presies wat jy bedoel....

Maar ek ry liewer n naweek/vakansie met 35kg as heeljaar/permanent met 10/15kg op my voertuig.
PS, wat kla jy oor gewig met jou reeds 3680kg D4D! :tease:

- Jy kry arms soos "The Beast"

Dankie Mark, daai is nogal n gawe stukie inligting!

Ek het so 'n ketting gesien erens lank terug in 'n 4x4 winkel, (was in 'n sak gewees) seker mens kan dalk so iets opmaak, mits jy die regte geslote link ketting kan kry?

Idees dalk?

Ja man, jy ken my mos! :D:

http://www.landyonline.co.za/techtalk/v ... covery.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=17860" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
