2 questions...

Where can I get a good 2.5 ton Exhaust Jack in Cape Town area? Obviously at a fairly decent price as well....

And why does 4x4 Direct not stock such an item yet?

Bought one from 4x4Megaworld yesterday. R1800. It is a 3 ton "Heavy Duty" (we'll see about that) with 12 months guarantee. Also it is ORANGE... Not orange.. ORANGE...

It is not too bulky and doesn't take up too much space. It also comes with 2 rubber mats to protect top and bottom. It is inflated either by means of the exhaust or with a compressor. I will test on the weekend.

The sunny weather on Saturday allowed us to play with the newly acquired Team Offroad equipment. Firstly we tested the exhaust jack. It worked beautifully, and after resetting the jack once, we turned the Tripod into a Bipod within seconds ..

Setting up first time:

Resetting:

Wait for it:

Up she goes:

And there it is:

Hoppy also pulled up to see what we are up to:

At this stage I took my tyre pressure gauge to see what pressure the air jack was inflated to... A measly 0.4 bar!!

Then the others started fooling around...

I also took the time to brand it:

The Tripod was very stable on the exhaust jack, and with both wheels in the air changing a tyre would be a piece of cake...

Next we tested the Hilft Jack Buddy which I purchased from 4x4Direct on Friday... Another very nice piece of equipment..

The Hilift Jack Mate is made to lift the vehicle by attaching it to the rim. Therefore you dont need hilift jack points. It is a bit of a challenge to change a flat tyre using the jack buddy, but a well placed rock or log under the axle will allow you to remove and replace the wheel.

I attached the Hilift Jack Mate to the Hilift jack:

Hooking it...

Starting with the jacking procedure

Making sure everything is lined up..

Lifting nicely

This is a real easy way to lift the vehicle..

And there it stands..

I am used to the Hiluft jack being pretty unstable, but with the Jack Buddy in place I was suprised by how stable the vehicle was while hanging on the jack.

And then the hooligans from next door took over...

What can I say... leave the neighbours alone for 10 seconds and this is what happens..

I bought this item from 4x4Direct on Friday.. on a whim.. and I am not dissapointed..

I am happy with both these pieces of equipment..
