Post by Hoppy »

Got up early this morning to catch the sunrize over snow caped mountains around Worcester and Ceres

We decided not to go up the snow trail because of the vast amount of vehicles queing at the gate, will go some day in the week

Here are some photo's of some of the snow around Queenstown today (Sunday), they were taken from the top of Maderia
Mountain that overlooks Queenstown.

It was bitterly cold up there and the wind factor was minus 5 C. To get to the top of the mountain was quiet dicey as well, there was an Eskom bakkie three quarters of the way up, the guy chickened out because he was unsure if he could drive down again, anyway rather safe than stupid.

The snow will still be up there for a few days to come as well.

Nay, he was just 'knyping' very hard ..... (too cold to haul it out and pass ... if he could still find it, that is)! :D:

Thanks for sharing. Love the wife's Photo of the dam Hoppy. Simon did not know if he was coming or going in his pitcher. We had no snow down this way, but for us it was still bitterly cold.

Andy we call it Tweezer weather, because when you go for a P you have to use Tweezers to find it.
I heard from a farmer friend of mine that farms up above the Penhoek Pass, he tells me that the snow on his farm was over half a meter deep, another farmer friend that I know that farms near Burgersdorp has a Uni-mog and he tells me that it also gets stuck in the snow, they get over a metre of snow at times, awesome stuff to drive through, they say that the diffs are the problem, they start to stack the snow up as they drive.
