Oh - for dem 'Good 'ol days'

Post by Harold »

Remember the ‘Good ‘ol Days’

Going through some of my old holiday photos and papers I found this:
Cost of a trip to Zimbabwe in 1990. Exchange rate then Z$= R0.95

Trip was for 28 days: Mana pools, Kariba then ferry to Mlibizi, fishing at Olive Beadle, Vic Falls, Hwange, Matopos and homea

Fuel: RSA 1728km @ R1.17/lt = 276.95
Zimbabwe 2620km @ R1.30/lt = 476.42

Food for 28 days = 1043.93
Kariba ferry = 477.00
Camp fees: = 686.00
Boat fuel & Fishing licence = 76.44
Film processing ( 10 films) = 377.00
Sundries = 497.08
Total 3910.82

Now it costs me more to fill my tank than the fuel bill for the entire trip.

Know the feeling went on a 6 week trip in 99 visiting more or less the same places in Zim (3 weeks) mentioned then to Bots (3 days) and then 2.5 weeks in Nam and the cost per person was R4500 all inclusive. Went on a booze cruise, river rafting food, drinks ,fuel .......

Took a trip in my 2.7 Hilux (CT, PE,BLOEM,DBN, PTA and back to CT) in 2005 and the fuel alone cost me R5500 for the trip

R 85 = zim$ 400
