Koës Pan Rally 3-4 July 2009

Post by jwalters »

Koës is a very smal, very dusty town 110km's North East of Keetmanshoop, Namibia. This town is host to a yearly rally which attract people from all over Namibia and SA. All types of vehicles/motorcycles take part.

The main rally start on the Friday (3 laps of 50km, differs from year to year) which determine the overall winners.

On the Saturday people gather around on a very large dune adjacent to a very large pan.

The day start with a dune climb in each vehicle category. Next up is the mini rally around, over the dunes, zig zag across the pan. This is quite fun to watch, lekke for the spectators. The last of the organised events are the sprint down the pan (not sure of the distance).

Reason I wanted to share this is to show you guys some of the uri-hilux conversions. (not all of these uri's are hilux's though) Some of you might of heard form it, I did find it interesting. Hope you enjoy......

PS: I Hope my photo upload worked...will check and try to add later on... :eh:

cheers,
Johann
