Fusebox bracket

Post by Polarbear2008 »

I recently decided to clean up the engine bay, and especially remove all the wires snaking round the battery poles. Today turned out to be D-day!

I got off-cut steel from Brackenfell Steel, and started cutting a cardboard template to fit in the spot I identified - the same spot where the previous owner had mounted his Cole Hersee solinoid.

Once I had the template shaped to the right dimensions, I transferred the measurements to the steel, and cut it with an angle grinder.

Once I had it cut out, it was a case of bending it to create the bracket. Having done that, I drilled all the required holes, and sanded the edges of the steel to remove any sharp areas.

Next I washed the steel with Sunlight soap to remove any oil or grease that will cause the paint not to stick. After rinsing the soap off, I left it to sun dry.

I sprayed 3 coats of matt black and 2 coats of clear spray to give it a bit of a shiny look.

Lastly, I bolted it in place - easy using the existing bolt holes, and fitted the fuse box, the inline fuse holder for the dual battery box, and the ABS relay holder. Then I tidied up all the cables and cable tied them in place.

Now I can see my battery again! And I know where to find what fuse if something stops working! :cooldude:

Nice one, Theunis!

Batteries seem to get overcrowded with wires so very quickly nowadays, with all the accessories we fit.

Thanks Eric

I specifically bought the 6 port fuse box with that thought in mind, so I have a few spare slots ready and waiting!

ChrisF

Ek geniet die winkel nogal as dit by auto electrical goed kom.
