DIY snorkel.
As requested by Thabo, some pics of the snorkel that I built for my SFA. I made it before I was on the forum so there is no pics of how I made it. But I used 90 mm and 75 mm blue Pvc irrigation pipe I heated and bent some pieces then pop rivited them together. I bent a thin piece of galvanised plate to the shape of the bakkies side, this I fiber glassed to the pipe. I fiber glassed a piece of pipe in to connect the air filter pipe. Then I covered the whole snorkel in fiber glass and sanded it to the finished piece. I bought a hood for the snorkel. It was quite a job to make and if I had to make one again I would probably do it a different way, make a mould or something and try and cast it in one piece. I have had it on now for about 2 years and not had any problems yet.It would probably be much easier to buy one and it would also only be a few rand more to buy it , but if I see something my mind always says why cant I make one and so the work begins. Sometimes I make something and end up throwing it in the scrap bin, so ja.
