Water tanks

Post by ChrisF »

In Elders V1 we had two of 40 liter tanks.

For Elders V1.1 I am looking at a total capacity of 50 to 60 liters, single tank.

I would love to hear what tanks you have used, and what you would recommend ... also what you WONT be using again ....

I am also considering using an inline pump, pressure activated - where can I buy this and what should I look out for ??

Hi Chris, as I have a single cab, I have one of those that are wider at the bottem and narrower on the top and holds about 50 liters, which fits in behind the front seats. I have a fishtank type see through plastic pipe connected to a lever type tap at the end of the pipe. The tank also has a tap connected to the outlet, so I have two taps as a precaution to leakage into the cab. The tank is gravity fed & access to the tank is through the drivers door. The second tap is held out the door, bringing gravity into play & the tap against the tap opened to get the water running. If I want to decant more than a kettle full, then I would have to open the filler cap, to allow air into the tank, for gravity to do it's work. Plain & simple.

Edge that is very much what we currently have in Elders.

With the new stup we will be able to stand upright in the back, thus it would be very nice to have a tap with water on demand ....

I am considering two custom tanks - one water, one diesel. This will optimize the layout ....

What are you fitting on Elders,& who is doing it for you ? Will be keeping an eye on this thread. I can also stand up in mine, but space is always at premium demand. Nice to watch new developements.

Edge we are getting a "Blinkgat" camper canopy - very similar to yours. Here is one of their latest products :

We have a single cab, so ours will be very different to the one in this link.

YES, space is always a premium ! :)

thus two custom tanks will help to optimise the available space ....

If you get tanks built to spec, get them to put baffles in the tank, helps to stop the water moving around so much and reduces noise
Happy trails
