Diy awning.
Started making an awning yesterday. It will be something that I have had in my mind for a while now. Will see how it comes out, maybe it will be a throw away project. Am using all things that are lying around, so it wont cost very much.

Re: Diy awning.
I have not got any further yet, need to get some shade cloth and poles. Also going to make roof rack to mount it on. Will post more pics as soon as I have done more. Yes Andre it will be wound up with the hexagon, there is a square tube that runs between the end caps.

Re: Diy awning.
Made the roof rack today and fitted the awning frame. Also made a tube out of 110 mm pipe with screw on end caps, this is easily removed as the clamp opens with a hinge.Still need to paint and fit to truck. Will get the rest of the stuff needed next weekend when I do my monthly trip to Springbok.
The 110 mm pipe is for my fishing rods.

Dankie, die beste is om n welding machine te koop, kry n klomp offcuts en gaan mal. Julle sal sien dat dit nie so mooilik is nie en na n tyd sal dit al beter raak.

Thanks. It is not so heavy, probably about 20 to 25 kg. Besides it will be going onto a Hilux.Baasvark wrote:Looking good and definately sturdy.

Re: Diy awning.
Finished the roof rack and fitted it today. Made a gas bottle holder and fitted that as well. The awning I will finish next year. Today was the last day of working in the garage, next week cleaning the place up( yearly task.) The week after going on leave Will be going to Kathu for about 2 weeks, so maybe I can meet some of the members from there.
