New trailer

Post by kfxnando »

The old trailer was great, however, had added a few things to it, like stilts for the trailer top tent
However it was getting small
Had been considering building a new one, however never you got around to it

A friend, who cousin was looking for a trailer for Malawi, was complaining that new trailers were expensive
My reply to him, "I wouldn't sell my trailer for less then 35K"
Note to self: need to learn to keep my mouth shut
We settled on 33k
And so the new build started, way way long ago
Then the V6 3.4 broke a piston skirt, and the trailer has been standing for so long that it already has surface rust, while standing under the carport

Think I had some pics on my photobucket page, however, when ever I go in there it directs me to an advertising from my tablet

So only have a video of me turning it around to weld at the bottom

Trailer will be 6m long by 2m wide, with 4x4 size wheels on the outside of the frame

Take note, of the double chassis, can't remember if they are visible on the video, that will be the packing area,

Looks good Fernando, that is a big job. What do you carry on a trailer that size? :thumbup: :thumbup:

Two big quads
All our camping gear
Trailer top tent mounted on the 1.4meters :lmao:
Everything except the kitchen sink
The disconnecting of the plumbing to take the kitchen sink is not my strong point
And when we go across the border, that we can tow the whole set up over the that last piece before the sea that is usually dunes

And in the mean time, we are have bought a stand at the coast, and are looking at container homes
So maybe we might never again afford trips across the border with the quads
We can extend the container home, with a steel structure
Can build that steel structure at home, take it apart, have it galvanized, put ithe on the trailer and take it to the sea

The centre packing space, is meant for gazebos, camping chairs, camping tables
All that space eating goodies
The centre piece is 1000mm wide by 250mm deep

https://www.flickr.com/photos/90525653@ ... 078359770/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

https://www.flickr.com/photos/90525653@ ... 078359770/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Made the jeep look small

https://www.flickr.com/photos/90525653@ ... 078359770/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here one can see all the stuff tied to the trailer
With the bakkie there is a canopy
Jeep, then becomes small

Hope you guys can open the pics
