Custom rollbar under alucab

Post by StuckInTheMudd »

I need a rollbar that will fit under my alucab. The standard rollbar, besides being impossible to find, will not fit under the alu canopy. Anyone know of a place Northern Suburbs that can do custom builds, or another solution?

Trim the roll bar shorter so it will fit! Easy.

If I understand correctly, you don't have one at all. Rather than try source an OEM one and modify it, nave a custom one made up. The OEM jobs interfere with the available packing space, whereas you could rather have something fabricated that follows the lines of your alu canopy tucked into the corners.

Round tubing is a stronger profile than square or rectangular, but the square / rectangular is neater and together with the canopy itself should prevent collapse.

Just get a decent welding works to do the job for you.

Thanks guys. I currently only have one of those "style bars" that get bracketed to the sides, which is useless. I've been looking for a while now for a proper rollbar but it seems they're not made anymore :/

I need to find someone who could do bending and welding

Why do you want to retain the roll bar under the aluminium canopy? It just takes up a lot of very useful space and adds unnecessary weight? And an Aluminium canopy will do the same job as a normal roll bar. Google it, there are lots of roll-over picks proving it.

because i will sometimes want to remove the canopy and a rollbar is a useful place for tying stuff onto.

Also, I want to put a benchseat in the back and bolt it down, a rollbar which is already bolted down would be a good place to secure the bench onto

No actually I am implying that once the aluminium canopy is on there you wont take it off again. Because inevitably, once you have it on, you are going to start adding little cupboards, and shelves and slides and lights and stuff and then it becomes a mission to take it off. I know, I had the same good intentions with all my vehicles but never got round to doing it, because it was such a schlep. But if you need a hand gimme a call... I'll bring the beers.. :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:
