Maxtrax mud recovery

My fellow travellers to Namibia referred to them as "tupperware", but after recovering their Isuzu from a riverbed they are much more respectful. In the one picture I have one maxtrax in hand after digging it out from the mud after the first metres gained. We needed two lengths to get to more solid ground. In the other picture I am digging some mud from behind the front wheel (we recovered in reverse - solid ground nearer that way) whilst the driver, my good friend Henry, is waiting anxiously for section 2 to commence. Jan, the elephant, was almost to close for comfort nearby keeping a watching eye. A local guide who arrived during the process told us that Polisieman, Jan's brother, would not have been as tolerant. These maxtrax are amazingly strong and flexible - a good investment. We kept to existing tracks, but the good rain in the season made these impassable. Fortunately the guide advised us which parts of the riverbeds to avoid going forward
