Dalux,

There is nothing you can do.
I did all the research, in the end fitted a LPG gas kit, which cost R6000.
During town driving / flat roads I save about 30c per km. On the long road, when encountering alot of hills, like on the N2, petrol works out better because of lack of power, petrol works out cheaper, and faster.

I'm still one for BD, but to get hold of used cooking oil for the conversion is a mission.
I only needed about 100 liters a month, and nobody could supply me with that. It is a war out there for used oil. On this forum, http://biodiesel.nanoelf.co.za/forum/, it has been likened to that mafia. Some guy had his reps threatened when stepping on someone else turf.

So before you even think of BD, asking questions if you vehicle can handle it or not, make sure you have a steady supply of used oil. Else it's not worth it.

Ethanol is another option. You can make it fairly cheaply, but you have to replace your injectors and reprogram / replace jet in carb, for about 40% more fuel. All well and good, but if you run out and have to fillup with the overinflated pricey petrol, then you gonna cry.

Unless this government will stop thinking of how they can swindle more money out of us , with every liter of petrol, and start thinking towards the Kyoto Protocol they signed up for, we could all enjoy cheaper and more eco-friendly fuels. But as long as supply of these fuels remain a back street operation, well, best we can do , is bend over, and say do it again danny.

If you want to save on your fuel bills, look at the HHO. It's not going to replace fuel, but make a signicant saving, but this has not been fully tested on diesel as far as I know
