Hangklip Mountain 4x4 Trail near Queenstown
Pic's will follow
Invitation to The Hangklip 4x4 Mountain Ranges
Date: 18th April 2009 which is a Saturday.
Time: We will meet across from J.J. Serfontein School on the main road at 9am to leave at 9h15am, late comers will have to find their on way, please note, a fan belt will be put on the gates that have to be kept shut going up the mountain, this is very important !!!!!!!!!!! If you do not know how to get up to the top, then phone me for details or send me an email.
I have found that when I send out invitations too far in advance, people forget, thus make this date available in your diary. I know that there is lots on this month and that there are also a few long weekends, but we are going to Hangklip, thus please make an effort to join us as well.
Once again please understand that the rock crawler 4x4 vehicle's, will be looking for rough and tough sections to drive, if you come along in a soft roader 4x4, please use your common sense and use an easier route instead, remember there are no actual trails to follow. We will drive in a general direction and then head back towards Hangklip Mountain where we braai.
Come rain, cold, snow or sunshine I will be going.
We will be having a Bring & Braai and then hope to be on our way back home by 5pm. Please bring along an old blanket, shoes or jersey that we will give to The People that we meet along the way, just a gesture of goodwill. I will bring a drum braai grid and some wood, you can bring some charcoal if you have some at home.
Please let me know if you will be joining us on this event?
Quads are welcome, if you comfirm to me by telephone to my number, I will arrange that you can leave your car and trailer at Famie Corbetts farm entrance to his farm down the lane, but this will still be at your own risk, you can bring an extra fuel jerry can in case you need more fuel along the trail, we can put it in the rear of my bakkie as well as your other stuff.
We have made this event on a Saturday due to the following reason's;
1. W ehave been approched by various members to have a trail on a Saturday as some people like to go to church on a Sunday and also be with their family.
2. It allows people from out of town to also join us on the trail for the day.
3. If you get stuck in your 4x4, at least you will have the Sunday to get your vehicle unstuck and then also drive back home.
Please note, there is no entrance fee, thus remember to just bring some old clothes if we meet up with some of the cattle hearders from this area.
This weekend is also the same weekend of The Queens Colledge Reunion, thus you make up your mind what you want to do.
Contact me by cell sms 082 499 1924 or by email to bigballs@vodamail.co.za Indemnity forms must be filled out.
Thankyou
Simon Morris

Re: Hangklip Mountain 4x4 Trail near Queenstown
Do you reconise the guy in the passenger seat of this TJ?
No track or trail to follow, through this area, you never follow behind the guy in front, you must spread out, with doing it this way, you prevent ruts forming from the tyre tracks that form when you drive behind each other.
This is why it is always better to fit a locker up front than at the rear of a vehicle, when Ben selected his rear locker, it pulled him into this rut, if he had had a front locker, this would never have happened.
Guiding my friend Marion over some rocks that we had to cross.
Wide open places as far as the eye can see, where next must we drive?
Just another Hilux venturing out in The Hangklip Mountain valleys, crossing a small stream and having fun.
This is known as THE GAYLUX
These pic's were taken with a very high resolution, thus save them and magnify them and you will enjoy them better, you will not see pic's of this quality often
Thus I hope some of you will make an effort to join us on this event, you will go home afterwards knowing that you have visited an area that you will not find often, we can make arrangements for you to sleep over at my house as well, or just bring your rtt or tent.

Cullinan?? .... being driven by his missus??
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Ben, I assume that like me, you're more of a motor sport / rugby guy than follow too much cricket, but Daryl Cullinan played quite a few games with the Proteas (I still prefer to call them the Boks), and I happen to know that he hails from the Queenstown area .... It was easy to put 2 + 2 together.

I also know a Darryl and he is on this forum, but he lives in Jhb and drives a Hilux (not a PEEP). I also know a Ralph, but he is not an entomologist, he also doesn't live live in the EC (he's in Munich) and he drives an X5. Am I also getting warm?

If your friend Ralph does not play with crickets, what does he play with then
