My old haunts! Used to do fishing trips up along that coast ... "hole in the wall" is a pretty area too. One has to have time though, and nowadays one can't use the old coastal routes that included beach driving.
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.

An appeal won't help you there Rich .... you stand more of a chance with a bottle or two of brandy in the form of a 'donation'. Most often they will want payment on the spot, or they confiscate your vehicle. I've heard some crazy stories over recent years .... one of the reasons why I no longer travel up there.

There are supposed to be boards up but they get used for scrap metal so its rather difficult to control...I stayed in lesotho for 12 years and trust me things are not that bad in the Transkei,at least if you get a fine in the transkei its a proper fine,in lesotho your fine is on the spot,if you dont have money your you get escourted to police station until you can pay ur fine, the KEI is much better
