Guys,

She looks GOOD! Bennie, I hope she did you proud. We will no doubt get your report in due course. How did the petrol consumption fare - difficult on a trail, I know, but still. I would also like your opinion on the tyres, seeing that they are road tyres rather than much else.

Hope you had a great day at Hennops!

Ewald, many thanks for the photos, busy downloading & saving them now :P

Hi Eric, man oh man, BULLDOG looks so good.

BUT...

You are a grown man, and I can TALK to you.

1. BULLDOG needs at least one locker.

2. BULLDOG needs 33" Mud Terrains.

3. BULLDOG needs a far stronger rear bumper (looks aren't everything).

4. BULLDOG needs a BLUE BULLS sticker!

Just sign a blank cheque, and I'll make sure everything gets done this week.

How much do you want for BULLDOG?

I agree, I ordered a Detroit end September last year, no stock. Darryl will be refunding me and I suppose I will have to settle for ARB at twice the price

2. BULLDOG needs 33" Mud Terrains.
Mud? What's that? I come from the West-Transvaal, no mud here!

3. BULLDOG needs a far stronger rear bumper (looks aren't everything).
On the book for possible purchase this year. Looking at ONCA as well as whatever Charlie Brown can manufacture!

4. BULLDOG needs a BLUE BULLS sticker!
Bennie has already designed one! Bennie, which thread was it, can't find it now. Out of necessity, it will be a 'Black' Bulls sticker if the Vinyl printing guys can make it from the design that Bennie provided.

Just sign a blank cheque, and I'll make sure everything gets done this week.
All my cheques are blank, and likely to remain so for a very long time!

Not negotiable, ever! But feel free to donate a Locker if you want to, that is something I have set my heart on :P, then you will always be "part" of her!

Justin,

I would have given anything to be with on that trail! But it is nice to know that she has had a good workout, even although the tuning is not yet fully optimised. Bennie tuned it with the software "on the go", making whatever adjustments he felt were necessary for good performance vs. economy. She is booked in for a proper Dyno tune next week sometime.

Nevertheless, I am proud of her, she does look great and seems to be enjoying herself :P

Bennie,

Great Recovery!

Now the price of Hilux SFA's is sure to go up, because the Nissan guys have seen what a normal 20-year old 'Lux is capable of and they will all want them!

Bennie, glad you had a good day! Now, I think I'll post the link on to Herman...

Eric, why don't you consider Gearmax diff loc.You can get a complete diff with Gearmax diff loc installed for roughly R7000.

Hi Jack,

The SFA is an Import, so it uses the imported diff, thus Gearmax will not fit. I will probably wait and see if 4x4Megaworld has another sale as they did last year.

I know it's an important diff, that's why I'm saying , for R7000 you get a new diff with diff-loc from Gearmax in East London!

Hmmm... that is another option to consider. I believe the ratios are all the same, Imported or local.

Gearmax diff's sideshafts are not nearly as strong as the origional Toy (imported ones). Eric consider a Lockrite first at half the price of ARB, if you then do not like it, you can easily flog it again.

Just a few corrections - we ALLOWED the Bulldog toy to recover Fear Factory. There were enough Nissans to do the job... and no, none of the Nissan okes ar e now burning with desire to become Tou owners - except super-lui-bull, mabe. But I did spot a FSA in Autotrader
@ R55 ooo. Its a beauty, its white, BUT they give the model as '88 ... dont think thats right - mabe 98?
O ja - Thanx for Pieter's sticker. AND my bakkie is a HE and his name is BRUTUS. I am the Kagiso laaiti.
Bennie - was great and thanx for coming along - pity you vanished without saying 'tatta'. Dwergie wanted to show you her embroidery.
There are a bunch of vid's on You Tube - the links are on the Nissan4x4 site under the Hennops thread. See Brutus doing well with an OLD driver and 'kwaai vrou' he he he !!

That's 'cos I only saw it now! Your opening statements about being "baie jammer" were interesting... ... I could hear the laughter in your voice as you said that :)

Bennie, how deep was the water - did any come into the vehicle? I replaced some missing rubber plugs in the floor board, but I think the old seat mounting holes might still be open? Any "wet carpet lining" smells? If there are any open holes from the old seat rails, I will just put bolts in them.

I want to thank you for driving behind Mac, it was nice of you. That way, if Mac broke down, you would be immediately aware of the fact and would be able to assist him. Such thoughtfulness for our fellow man is part of the Hilux creed :D :D

The water was almost halfway up the doors (Just kidding, maar dit was mo@r diep jou mos see how deep Mac was submersed) I think the sliders were in the water. Glad to report that nothing got wet inside except for the my water that came of my shoes. The plastic linings is just so much better then carpets for off-road use. On the way back I drove in such a storm that by the time I got home there were no traces of mud left on the wheels or body (washed clean by the water on the road) and still no smell.

No no no Eric - you have it all wrong, he positioned Bulldog behind Brutus for the very reason that he KNOWS I'm a decent oke and would not leav him behind if he got stranded or stuck ... as you can see, I even recovered an Id... toemaar, with a 2x4 (Toy, Nogal !!!) from a level 3 obstacle ...
