Paradise 4x4 - Wilderniss - 23/04/2011

Post by SideKick »

Hi All

First of all, Sorry. I posted my request for people to join me on my 4x4 outings this easter in the wrong section (Wrong Province).

viewtopic.php?f=49&t=18197" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyway, the first outing was to Paradise 4x4 just outside Wilderniss on the way to Sedgefield.

It's a complete sand trail, but for me Atlantis is much better. Even though the trail is fun, it's very short and not enough types of obstacles. We joined up with a couple of guys that was also there (They also had two Amarok demo bakkies that they wanted to test out). The trail took about 3 hours for al 7 vehicles.

When we were done and the rest left, I let my wife drive and we went through the whole track for a second time. She did the first half and my friend the secon half. Did the whole thing in under an hour . . .

The only real challange there is old Fugly, but for that you don't really need any skill, just power. With my 4y I got up and/or over every obstacle at Atlantis, including the big dune. I just couldn't get up Fugly. Tried 4 times, in low range and high. Tried with power, tried with (too much) speed. Just couldn't get all the way up.

The 2y Turbo Diesel couldn't make it up either.

Only the Amarok and the 2 v6 vehicles made it up all the way.

One other obstacle worth metioning I guess is the long downhill axle twister on the way out . . .

Tx Stephan, for sharing some pics of your trail.

Very important for you and your partner to become competent in driving. Hopefully she enjoyed it and will look forward to the next outing. Maybee you will find yourself sitting in the passenger seat next time round :lol: :lol: :lol:
