Mateke 4x4 Trail

Post by BenRich »

Hi All,

We did Mateke trail near Thabazimbi a week ago!

Firstly the camps and accomadation is excellent. No real luxury but just enough for a lekke boys weekend!

Theresa the owner is very friendly and helpful.

Now the trail,

We were four vehicles, Jeep, Nissan, Landcruiser and My HILUX.

The trail took us seven hours to complete, taking our time and even stopping for a braai. The beginning of the trail is almost boring with a little "twin spoor" road for about the first hour.

However when the obstacles start, some of them are proper grade 4. Lines are critical and as long as the lines are correct you should have no problem, I must state we all came back with scratched rims through one obstacle.

This is not a "designed" track but a proper game farm with natural roads. We saw plenty of BIG Kudu and Waterbuck (Oh 308 were are though?)

It is rough but we all agreed is was a nice challenge and roads need to be built and a lot of thinking needs to be done.

Here are some pictures

Ben

Common sense was nog altyd 'n wenner...maar as iemand anders die obstacle eerste doen...priceless ;-)
