The Wedge 4x4 trail & Golf driving range

Post by Mylux »

Hi all,

The next get together I am arranging is for the 1st April.

A day of non competitive 4x4 fun, practicing your golf swing and watching Super rugby at The Wedge Outdoor Park.
The venue is situated in Muldersdrift, just off Beyers Naude Dr.

http://www.thewedgeoutdoorpark.co.za/

So the idea is to meet around 10am, do the 4x4 obstacle course and meet at the clubhouse afterwards. The golf driving range is right next to the clubhouse so we enjoy watching each other smash some golf balls off into the distance.
The clubhouse facility also has a bar and restaurant. There are two Super Rugby games that afternoon, Stormers vs Cheetahs at 3pm and the Lions VS the best team in the world The Sharks at 5pm. :dance1:

The 4x4 trail costs around R130 per vehicle. I will get more details regarding this and the golf costs next week.

So how about joining us for something other than just a 4x4 trail. Its gonna be loads of fun

Add your name to the list if you are keen to join us:

Was at The Wedge yesterday with the Suzuki club.
It was awesome.
Trail is not too difficult but lots of mud !
None of us could master the obstacle called “the swamp” would like to see which of the Hilux club members can master it !
Had to recover a jimny that got stuck in the mud 
Also got myself stuck and had to be recovered by a jimny 
A few of the jimny guys said they would like to join us as well on the 1st April.
I won’t put their names on the list until they let me know if they can make it.
We had an awesome braai afterwards.
Just a word of warning. You are not allowed to take your own alcohol into the braai area – you have purchase at the bar.
In anyway I’m putting my name on the list. Would love to go again.

Thanks for the feedback Rigardt, I've added your name to the list.

Come on guys, join us on Saturday for a whole lot of fun. No April fools joke :cooldude:
The owner of the venue is also an importer of Pro-comp suspension. He will be giving us a bit of a presentation on his product offering.

Thanks to those Club members that have responded and will be joining us on Saturday.
I must add though that the response to these type of events is rather poor from the rest of the 400 odd Gauteng club members!

I will start a separate thread for suggestion's from club members on the types of get togethers and venues that would accomodate our needs. Please feel free to comment.

The group for Saturday so far is:

1. Greg & family
2. Quentin & Hesta & Junae
3. Arné
4. Rigardt
5. Wayne (guest)
6.Willie (to be confirmed )

A big thanks to those who joined us on Saturday

The trail has some interesting obstacles and well planned with escape routes on most of them. This is a great venue to do some basic 4x4 training and ideal for a ladies training day. Certainly something to look into for a future training day.
The trail took us around two hours to complete where afterward a cold one and lunch was enjoyed on the deck.

The owner Warrick Ward is a distributor of ProComp suspension systems and MyMarker recovery gear, imported from the USA.
Some great products were on display at very competitive prices.

Here are a few pics of the day

Robbie had the opportunity to join us but chose to spend the day polishing his pride and joy :taunt:

Having said that though, the mud was more like dirty water than the sticky mud we experienced in Northam the previous weekend.
It took Lee Ann about half an hour to clean my truck on Saturday afternoon :mocking:
