Be a Blessing no 5 - 06 November 2010

Post by Pumba »

On the back of four previously very successful and VERY Enjoyable Events;

Be A Blessing 5 - has arrived

For those not familiar with the Be A Blessing Programme I'll give you a short history:

From the humble beginnings with a couple of Hiluxes owned by family members, we packed the picnic hampers and crammed in as many young gents from the Kayamandi Township as the not so spacious Hilux Dc's allow...and headed for the rough stuff.

At the 2nd Event we managed to pull together some more Hiluxes, cruisers, Landies etc. and crammed in more hopeful and very appreciative kids. The 3rd and 4th Trails of the Be A Blessing Programme was declared a "Serious Blessing" by the DRIVERS. There was 15 and 13 vehicles at each of the last two Events, and now we even have to think about limiting the numbers :beg:

The fantastic feast, commaraderie and organisation at these Events make the most seasoned offroaders stand in aure.

Amazingly the whole programme relies on Sponsorships

Each Event has had mountains of braai vleis and very generous support from many Sponsors that have been outstandingly generous and loyal to the most remarkable Programme.

To be a part of the Event, We requests only the following of participants:

1. Come with a Full Tank of Gas and Empty Passenger Seats
2. Pay only for the Trail permits - though the Last Event (Atlantis Dunes) we were most fortunate to have the Trail Permits Sponsored by a very generous new Sponsor
3. Provide some light refreshments for your passengers whilst we're driving, afterwards your bellies will be filled with Lekker Braai Vleis for your endeavours.
4. Come with an Open heart, Sense of Adventure and most importantly Huge Sense of Humour

If you'd like to offer assistance in Sponsorship, or need to know more about this Programme then please PM me.

Be A Blessing 5

Great gents!

But could I ask, PLEASE don"t bring a co-driver along! We would rather take more children than co drivers. :yahoo: If we have more seats than children closer to the time I will let you know and you can invite your friends. I'm working on 4 children per vehicle.

Maybe indicate for me if you would like to take soeone along and I'll email you the week before the event.

Andrew, the kids are all in their teens. They will be happy with whatever you pack in. Chips, soda's, viennas, droewors, mix sweets, piesangs, whatever you feel like.

We need 2 to 3 more vehicles, guys!

I'm very surprised at what a struggle it's been to get the last few spots filled, for such a worthy cause :problem:

I hope this rain goes away, and the sun can dry the route we are going on, otherwise the route owners close off all the best parts

Yeah, sometimes they're a little too over-cautious imho.

Did the trail a few weeks back. The cashier gave me a map, mumbled something and scribbled a bit on the good spots with a red pen. I just "smiled and waved" and went on my merry way. The trail was a breeze, despite being a little damp.

When I got back down, I was puzzled to learn from other drivers that they had actually been told to avoid these obstacles

Some Testamonials:
From Tamsyn
I would like to say thank you for the opportunity that you have given to enjoy ourselves on the wonderful trip. I hope that we do it again sometime. The best was going up the high hills.

From Lunika:

From Thandiswa:
I thank you guys for the trip it was very interesting. I really enjoyed it. It was my first time on a trip like that and I would love for you all come again if you had the chance. This is blessing from God. God has given you a great talent and I thank you for sharing it with us.

From Marvin:
Thank you very much for the off road trip and all the good food that you guys made. I had the greatest time of my life, being able to do something like that, I am very grateful. So thank you for the fun times and the scary times, you guys are the best. God bless you guys for doing something and expecting nothing in return but just enjoyment.

From Lionel:
Thank you for the great trip. I love the feeling in my stomach when it comes to challenges of the 4x4 trails. But getting to know you guys for the good work you do for our school.

From Anton:
I thank you for giving us a fantastic day in my life. I really appreciate the great things you did with us. May God bless you with more. Thank you
From Rosely:

From Thabo:
I would like to say thank you for the 4x4 trip it was great. I had a lot of fun and meeting new people was great. The most enjoyable moment was when we were at the top of the mountain that was really good, although it was scary. Thank you so much, I hope we can do this again.

From Chantal (teacher):
The 4x4 trip was a wonderful and exciting experience; the best part of the trip was to see how our learners experienced something so far from their own reality. It has opened their minds to a whole other world that is there for them to experience and partake in.

From Tania (teacher):
The trip was fantastic; it was an out of the box experience that really gave you another look at life. It has also brought out a lot of fears and adrenaline rush was addictive.
