16th June 2012 Outrekpad 4x4 trail

Post by GI Jane »

We are having a GTG at Outrekpad 4x4 trail on the 16th June.... Only 30 minutes drive from Cape Town on the N7 towards Malmesbury, turn left on the M19 towards Melkbosstrand and a short distance on that road is a turnoff to the left on to the Reygersdal Drive where you will find Outrekpad

Information about the trail and facilities can be viewed on the Outrekpad website:-

http://www.outrekpad.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

We will meet at 8.00 am at Outrekpad. They have braai facilities and lapa so after completing the trail we will have a braai. If we have a large enough group we can have the trail and facilities for our sole use.... Please have a look at the website and add your name to the list if you would like to join us.. I know Thys has used the venue for training before and has lots more information which I am sure he will share with us... Thanks Thys in anticipation :beg: :beg: :beg:

We have been offered a discounted price for the trail if we have more than 10 vehicles. Instead of paying the regular R180 we pay R150... so, if you plan on doing the trail at some time, now is the time to do it at a discounted rate... Think you can still buy a 6 pack for the R30 you save, or does it cost more now?

Val, thanks for organizing the discount.

To the rest partaking in this event, would you be willing to donate the R30 you save towards fixing A4C's vehicles they use for their African Outreaches, its for a good cause and like 0000MS said in another post, A4C have given some good support to forum and club members, so why not give something back.

The smallest donation would be much appreciated :thumbup:

Yes, we have got Wegry 4x4 Academy training that weekend, but we'll organise a different venue for Saturday so as not to impose on your fun activities and braai at the Lapa. Just clean up after yourselves, as we will be in the Lapa first thing on Sunday morning... :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

C'mon guys, We have managed to organize a discount to drive the trail at the GTG, if you choose to do it on your own at another time you pay the full amount. Have heard it is not the most difficult trail out there, but those that have done it have enjoyed it... If you missed Atlantis on Sunday and the fun we had in wet dunes you have a second chance at it.. apparently there is sand. Thys you can correct me on that point... and maybe you can give us some idea of what to expect on the trail to whet our appetites.. or anyone else that has done it...Please..

Will be good to see you on the 16th Andrew and Carlo....Think we are going to be good sized squad. There is a Lapa and braai area, so we can have a good kuier afterwards. Please don't forget to bring meat for the braai, whatever you want to eat with that and your refreshments... Wood is supplied, enough for a bonfire, and Thys has kindly vacated the Lapa on the day. Thanks Thys...

Been viewing some videos on youtube about Ou Trek Pad, and with what I saw and all the rain we have been having I think we will be in for quite a muddy day. I cannot wait. :yahoo:

Andrew me neither...., but for the moment don't want to leave my snug place, Reeealll Cape winter's day today... woolly socks, wrapped in a warm blanket with a hot coffee, and definitely NOT venturing outside today...

Checked the projected weather forecast for that weekend... It appears to be a sunny weekend so far... thank goodness...

weather does not bother me so much. I can feel the snow in the air. Speaking of snow we must start talking about a trip to matroosberg when the snow is here.

My thoughts exactly... was about to look on weather sites to see whether any snow was anticipated. Think I am going to take a ride out there some time to check it out, never been before...

Sorry not sure what you mean Tertius.. Direction to outrekpad? Only 30 minutes drive from Cape Town on the N7 towards Malmesbury, turn left on the M19 towards Melkbosstrand and a short distance on that road is a turnoff to the left on to the Reygersdal Drive where you will find Outrekpad

Information about the trail and facilities can be viewed on the Outrekpad website:-

http://www.outrekpad.com/index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is a map on their website. But I think it is quite easy to find.. Closer than Atlantis Dunes

here you go mate...

The 4x4 Route
• Grading 2 – 4
• The Ou Trek Pad route is a family route
• Only 40km from Cape Town city centre.
• 25km long
• Sandy route with low dunes, this is ideal for sand training (Landrover Experience,
Ford Scorpion and several other 4x4 Instructors use our facilities for training purposes) :cooldude:

Ou Trek pad is a great route, maybe just a bit too easy in winter because the sand is so compact. Just be careful of the larger water crossing, the warning signs are there for a reason :shock: I ended up on my belly there last time and need a small recovery... by a friend in a GW *cough* M :oops:
