Starting at 09:00, you will have the opportunity to plant your own cedar tree in the grove and surrounding wilderness area. Complimentary lunch will be offered by Bushmans Kloof and Die Nuwe Graskoue Trappers will provide the entertainment, ending the programme at 15:00. The event is open to the public and entrance is free.

Your hosts for the day are Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat and CapeNature, with members of local environmental groups, the Botanical Society, the Wildflower Society and the Cederberg Conservancy also participating.

This was a very nice and very well organized event.
They opened the road which runs from the top of Pakhuis pas to Heuningvlei for everybody who participated.
That is a beautiful 4x4 route. It use to be the donkey cart route for which the Henuninvleiers use to go to town.

At the Heuningvlei hall they had some refreshments. They presented some speeches. Then they asked all the children to help them plant some seeds in seed trays.

We then went out to an area where there were a Ceder plantation many years ago. They had 128 trees to be planted. Explained to us how to plant the trees. You received a tree, 1 liter of water and instructions as to where to plant (and where not to plant) the trees. Each tree was also accompanied by a tag.

After the tree planting we headed back to Heuningvlei for lunch. A local band provided some music and then a dance group from Wupperthal presented Reil dances with which they won some golden awards at an international dance festival in Los Angeles.

Will definitely be there again next year.
