Hi

I took the old lady shopping today at Pick 'n Pay Hyper Steeldale, and came across a solar powered lantern, it retails for R399.99. I thought it is a very good idea - comes with two solar panels about 20 x 30 cm. It has two light settings and from 5 hours of charging, it will burn for 5 hours.

Not sure what voltages we're talking about here, but could be modified to charge small electronic items like cameras, cellphones, etc if camping for long (no need to drain any of the batteries), who knows? Could work also for ESKOM happy hour for home.

Worth a try me thinks.

The initial price will be costly but the benefits will outlast many on the market, don't you think?

Howzit Guys,

I know its more than a year later... :wth: but here is another Solar Lamp that i think is kick ass.

The name of the solar lamp is 'Supa Sola Lamp'.

Its great for people in the townships that don't have electricity but its just as great for people that do when Eskom :shock2: starts their bloody load shedding.

It has two solar panels that are neatly tucked away in it self, it can be charged by hand crank if there isn't sun or at night, it has a radio and a torch.

You can get them from Phytotek in Pretoria for R360 incl. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Phytotek ... ef=tn_tnmn" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; / http://www.phytotek.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; / phytotek@phytotek.co.za

Cheers,
