How far is 2m?
When I was camping at Serendipity the past weekend I enjoyed the hiking trails very much. After about 3 hours of walking and drinking the coldest running water off the streams and continue further on in one of the gorges (klowe) my eye cathes a movement on my left.........
The Mosambician Spitting Kobra was definitely not more than 2m away. My head tells me to position myself for better photos but when I got hold of my legs they were already in another direction.
But what an experience and honour to experience something this foretunate. WOW. Nature can be full of surprises and so sudden.

Never mind the yellow thing at two metres, I would have left a brown thing for at least 100 metres if it was me.

Re: How far is 2m?
.... sharp, guys!
When your road comes to an end ...... you need a HILUX!.
Life is like a jar of Jalapeño peppers ... what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow.
Don't take life too seriously ..... no-one gets out alive.
It's not about waiting for storms to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.
And be yourself ..... everyone else is taken!

Which ever way you look at it, 2m is definitely way way too close! At 100x that I'll start calming down!

The fact that it made a hood with the head in the upright position means that it noticed your presence and it is ready to strike or if you are lucky ready to spit. How far is 2m? Definitely too close for comfort!

Re: How far is 2m?
I came across quite a few snakes sailing along to get away when you met them in the veld but this one was a first. I normanly take my pda with all the software on but that day I didn't. I check my first photo and notice that the snakes head was higher now. After checking the second photo my sixth sense tell me to get away. Now I relies why it was ment not to have had the pda with me. I rate myself very very lucky with the help from above. I just pray and hope that I make the right decisions and know when to draw the line the second time.
