Making a plan in Gonarezhou

Post by Villiers »

A few years ago my dad and I visited Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe. One morning we ran into a bit of trouble - a 'donga' had become so deep that we thought we wouldn't be able to get through with the bakkie. We had been driving so far that we really didn't feel like turning around, so we took out the spade and stared making the approach angle less severe. An hour later and we were ready to try! The photo really tells the story - it was scary, but doable

We got through without trouble in the end. New respect for my car :celebrate:

I know what you mean. Spent quite a few days in Gonarezhou last year in June and there were some pretty hairy dongas and river entries and exits that we found.
