Hi there,

I'm looking for a campsite in or near Santa Maria. Is there any one that can help?
Planning a trip in May next year, but I dont want to go too far north.

Thanks,

Pieter

Hi, and wecome to the Forum.

In and around Maputo there are not a lot camp sites, if any. There are however quite a lot of B&B type places where you could ask to camp. But near Maputo I would rather stay away. (if you are a first timer)

Why do you want to go there if I may ask?

I'm only going for a short getaway, it does not have to be there. I just thought the closer to Inhaca the better. Any suggestion would help, as long as its not too close to the border. I'm looking for something that is quiet and secluded, and not too far north.

hello pieter , will you travel to santa maria from maputo via bella vista, santa maria is on the ponta torres peninsula and you cannot go further north, there is 200m of ocean called the gap (hells gates) and then inhaca island, plenty of camp sites mostly good, ponta torres being one of them, it is a beautiful place and the fishing is really good just be aware of petty theft. all the camps have power and bottled water availabe in santa. if you have time and there are enough people hire a dow and sail around the bay you will see maputo in the distance and can land on the island (R70 p/p/d) make sure the dow has an outboard a trip to millibingalala south of santa is also worthwhile keep the tryes at one bar happy travels cheers deane

:laugh2: I wonder if these suggestions will still help Pieter, seeing as he asked almost 2 years ago ... Thu Oct 22, 2009 12:40 pm :D:

Maybe it will help someone else. ;-)
