Best way to get Lux from CT to PTA

Post by DustySFA »

Hi Guys,

i am looking at a lux in CT this weekend and was wondering if it will be cheaper to send it on a truck or drive it up, 1600km @ 6km/L = R2100 just for petrol...

anyone know the cost to get it up here by truck?

just called Shosholoza and Motovia, both are around R2500 and up...

so it would be best to take a scenic drive up and just take it easy on the pedal...nice stay over in Bloem or colesburg for the night and then hit the N1 back to PTA...

there are worse ways to spend 2 days leave...good way to bond with my new 1998 2.4 D/C lux aswell...

what sort of range can i expect to get out of that Lux on the open road?

I'd work on 6kms/ltr there bru, unless it's fuel injected which will give you 25% better

Seeing as it is a Hilux you want to get to PTA, why not do what they did in one of the 4x4 magazines and drive all the way from CT to PTA on dirt roads, and explore the out of the way places you will never get to? Sure, it will take a day or 2 longer, but make a plan   Plus, a Hilux is more at home on a dirt road than a highway anyway.. and as you will be driving a little slower, your consumption will be a little less too...

use it, dont use it... :) :)

Yip if you drive anything that don't give 8km/l + its cheaper for a family of 4 +car to buy return tickets on the Shozoloza Meyl between JHB and CTN. Will take a bit longer then driving it in one go but at least you will not be tired when you get there
