Post by colinmullis286 »

finally got the chance to strip the truck down today, it's gonna be a 4 month project and cant wait to finish it, gonna fit 3" body lift tommorrow and next will be 2" shackle lift, plans also include rear shock hoop, front shock hoop (maybe 2 shocks each side), diff guards, axle guards along the axle, transfer case lifted, 35" tyres, bucket seats, roll cage inside and out, rear flat bed plus lots of other stuff. i'll keep you all updated of the progress.

Colin,

Seems you are definitely going to have your hands full over the next few months. I'm sure we're all going to enjoy the photos of your progress that you will be posting. Are spares readily available for the Hilux in the UK?

spares are readily available yes but at a price, i've imported or made alot of the new parts for the truck, most parts and accessories will be made by me to save on costs.

there wont be anything identifying it as a vw or a toyota, it's gonna be badgeless, probably gonna make a custom front end with twin headlamps and custom grill with ally rad.

Depending what you will be using this rig for, you might have to consider fitting some Longfield heavy duty side shafts if you are going to ru 35's what size 35's are you going to use and what make?

What about some lockers up front and at the rear, have you considered a Marlin Crawler?

Revolver shackles are better than the extended shackles, get the lockable type.

And you will have to consider an anti wrap bar at the rear, check out snake racing web site, they sell them.
