Impossible to find! Where to buy 2700i 4x4 Double Cab?

Post by Jackal »

Hi guys,

I have been trying to find a 2003-2005 Hilux 2700i 4x4 Double Cab, in good condition with around 150,000km on the clock for almost 8 weeks now with no luck. I have been trawling Gumtree in CTN and JHB, http://www.carfind.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.autotrader.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, http://www.junkmail.co.za" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, Google and have my name down with a number of dealerships but am having no luck. Does such a bakkie even exist and if so where can I find one? They seem about as rare as a hen's t*ts! My dirt bike just doesn't fit in the back of the Toyota Yaris rental I'm driving around in at the moment!

My number is 0eight2 five66 888seven in case anyone knows of one for sale. Beers/brandy/whiskey on me if you find me one! Please help!

Thanks,
Carl

Beers: You can't complain about the brand, only the temperature and its all about volume.
Brandy: 2 fingers brandy, 4 fingers Coke, anyone who drinks Brandy on the rocks is buying too expensive brandy.
Whiskey: On the rocks, only quality whiskey should be drunk, anything requiring a mix is better left alone.

Hey, If you find one let me know. I have been looking for one for many months now. I think I will have to wait for my father-in-law's 2.7 and at the rate I am am going with all the mods etc on my little moster, that will only happen in about 50 years. He has found a new passion for 4x4'ing because of me...

bought my 2.7 2003 Legend on Gumtree, I was the 2nd guy that opened the ad and the 1st to view the bakkie. I was just lucky. It had 165 000 on the clock and I paid R145 000, currently have 167 000 on the clock. It's the model with the full leather seats and it also have ABS. Apparently not all the IFS bakkies have this as std. I only found this out afterwards. Love my bakkie and I get compliments all the time, even had offers on it. Important, it also passed the AA test.

Good luck with your bakkie hunting, the right one will come around eventually.

Patience, patience and more patience.
Take your time and be relaxed. Don't be attached to the bakkies you may come across and should be able to walk away when unhappy.
With time you'll be able to spot a con artist a mile away - there's lots of them.
If you're not sure of yourself take someone who knows - you can fool one person once, you can't fool all people all the time.

Good luck and happy hunting.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm not even that concerned about the mileage being over 150,000km, just somewhere around there, and more concerned about the bakkie being in good condition and not being too abused offroad. I like to keep my cars for at least 5 years and am planning to head up into Africa for a big overland trip within the next few years so don't want to start out with a bakkie that has high mileage and has worked too hard offroad. If for example I buy one with 200,000km on it and keep it for 5 years by the time I sell it it will have over 300,000km on it. And I know that these motors go forever but its all the little things like window winders, indicator levers, tears in seats, airconditioner that can't possibly last forever that I'm sure will start to break.

DAMN - I must have been damn lucky to get mine then - I bought my 2003 2.7i DC hilux in March for R140k with 170,000 km on the clock from a toyota stealer and they even gave me a less violent kick in the nether regions on the trade in of my renault scenic than anyone else was going to!! I found mine on Autotrader.

I'm looking for a 4x4 D-4D D/C in the R230-250K region. I'm not too worried about year model but the milage needs to be fairly low and condition good.

I'd like 165K for my bakkie. Sorry, it's a 2004 not 2005, done out in Legend spec. Stock standard beside a long range tank and dual battery system. En hy's mooi, sommer farkin baie mooi ;-)
