Personally I would go for No 1, BUT not at that price. Offer the man R70K and see if he falls for it. Remember to change to EFI is going to cost you a few bucks... Those modified bakkies are NOT worth the money the owners spent on them and subsequently want to sell them for. otherwise the bakkie seems in good nick although the pics are not very close-up and can be deceiving.  :D

The ONLY reason I would not go for the KZ-TE (and that is my personal preference) is the fact that it is an IFS. But if that is your thing, and it suits your purposes, then that is a good buy too

Hi Jon,

If I was looking, I'd keep looking. I can't comment on the condition of and so forth on any of these vehicles, but there are clean Hilux's on the market at low prices.

Have a look around at various option, then make a choice....... and don't for an average, capable 4x4 vehicle, don't let SFA vs IFS be the deciding factor.

Milage, condition, extras are worth far more than what axle it has.

Just a tought......that Red double cab Hilux that I have for sale, would it not be better to buy that vehicle.
1. give it a body lift say a 80 mm,

2. Fit some larger tyres say 33" x 12.5 x 15" fitted to some 8J rims,

3. A locker up front

4.The front and rear ARB bumpers as well as the side steps will have to be raised

And then you will have a nice looking bakkie like the white one you want to buy which has all the bells and whistles to go with it, an aircon is also nice.

But masybe you like the big 7MGE engine.......

Hi Simon
I did look at the red van, it looks nice.
My thoughts on it :
Nice Extras
Small power, and I am unfortunately fond of power.
If I had to work out what it would cost to
a) do Body Lift
b) Put bigger Tyres on
c)Raise the front and rear bumpers
d) do 7mge conversion
Then it adds up to quite a bit.
I think Maybe Ewald is right spend about 40, conversion 35, tyres etc 8, lift about 6 comes out at about 90k.
perhaps better option ?

Just remember one thing Jon. These extras are hellishly expensive and the costs spiral out of control before you know it.. so choose carefully.

Ask me.. I thought I would buy this bakkie and add just the basics, and all of a sudden not even a year later I spent another R50K on extras.. Scary part is that does not include suspension, wheels, tyres and long range tanks, which came off my previous bakkie!! :D

HI Kaspaas
THat is quite a sobering thought, that was my reasoning on trying to get a bakkie with the extras already on.

I will keep looking I guess.

Please, if anyone knows or hears of a suitable vehicle please let me know.

Thanks everyone for the words of wisdom

contact Guy Heritage in jhb his number is 083 555 4998 but these modified Hilux's are far and few, you will have to build up your own and remember to buy an old bakkie for R40 000. will require another R80 or R90 000. to get it modified, just depends how far you want to go and what your finance allows you to do (if you are married, well that is another story) With my wife I had to sell my other bike to buy her a car.......
