How many litres does a 92 SFA tank hold?

Post by KZNSFA4Y »

Hi I am just wondering how many litres a SFA tank holds. If I fill mine up and drive until the needle points to empty I can only fit another 45l or so into the tank?

Mine's the same, and on that 45 you only get +-250km out of it. They say there is a 20l reserve, so 65l in total...

The SFA 4Y tank holds 65L in total!! They all are the same 45 - 50 L when on empty when filling up. Vehicle was designed for a big reserve because of the terrain the vehicles were expected to work and travel to prevent fuel starvation issues. Also handy when travelling in remote places with little fuel.

I usually get 320km on 45l I think if i drive purely on the open road I could probably squeeze 350km. But you have 32" tyres i only have 265 tyres.

Usually a 55lt, but you only can use 45 lt of it, the fuel pickup inside the tank are too high and there will be always be 10lt in the tank that 1 can do nothing with, exept if you make the fuel pickup lower.

After putting in the 7mge I had to modify the tank so I get everything out of the tank now. Around 135L with my extra tank. I am averaging 7.4km/l and thats not driving around like a granny and that is a combined cycle as well. Much better than the 22R or 4y and I can stay in 5th gear.

My '98 2.8D SFA takes 76l (once ran it completely dry and then filled up), but I suspect the previous owner modified the standard tank.

The 97 & 98 Models came out with a new tank that is square and could hold 80L on the Double cabs and on the single cabs had a capacity of 100L.

Only these models had these tanks fitted. Also these tanks are no longer available from TSA.

Thanks for clearing that up for me, Johan! Seems I've been robbed out of 4 liters!

I would try N1 4X4 for a second-hand one.

I've had over 700km between fill-ups on Bulldog. Oh, but wait! - I have a LR tank fitted - 130 litres! ;)

Sorry, I'm full of nonsense, I know, but it had been a l-o-n-g day!

My 4y with a combined cycle is giving me 7.1. I also drive at 120 to 130 on the flat roads and 100 to 110 on the long uphills. I do have to gear down for decent uphills though.

I wrote that tongue in cheek, but the best I have had with Bulldog was travelling at a reasonably steady 100km/hr GPS speed. I have raised suspension and 31" STT tyres on, consumption was 7.3km/litre during a trip in the countryside of 360km, tarred roads mainly with a bit of good gravel road thrown in. Don't think it was too shabby.

Ja, that is pretty good. I want to fit a performance branch and exhaust system (a quiet as standard one) and I am hoping this will hopefully give me better torque and 5% better consumption. Any advice?

Bulldog has a branch manifold and originally had a Brospeed exhaust. Having long ago outgrown any desire for a roaring exhaust tone, I threw the Brospeed exhaust off and fitted a normal Bosal exhaust system with two silencers. Much quieter! ;)

It is the branch manifold I am most interested in for better tourque, I will probably keep the exhaust 50mm and I might just fit 3 freeflow silencers to keep it quiet and still efficient. Maybe two big boxes will keep the noise down. I want the system to enhance the tourque peak at 2800 to 3200. The sweet spot as I like to call it.

:lmao: :lmao: I was just yanking your chain a bit, but I do average about 7.2km/l which is pretty impressive for the 7mge and that is town driving too.
