What to do with a 4,5l V8?
What to do with a 4,5l V8?
Been "offered" a Toyota 4,5l V8 motor (with auto gearbox) with low kms
Sitting with the Hilux 4Y EFI, the 80 series Cruiser and the possibility of the Surf with the kaput KZ motor - reluctant to touch the Hilux or the Cruiser (maybe not?), how easy to fit the motor into the Surf? Is it viable?

If it is not broken do not try to fix it. Go for the Surf, the V8 is far better than a diesel. a Surf with V8 will be cool

I agree, fit the V8 in the Surf especially if the motor in the Surf is worn.pietpetoors wrote:If it is not broken do not try to fix it. Go for the Surf, the V8 is far better than a diesel. a Surf with V8 will be cool
Just because it says "4WD" doesn't make it an off-road vehicle.
Re: What to do with a 4,5l V8?
Would love to have it fitted into the Surf as its motor is shot; although I can get the Surf at a very good price I've heard of very few "painless transplants" in general
Know of quite a few Hilux trokkies running (happily) around with Lexus motors in them; can the same be done with the Cruiser engine?

Thinus... chop it in half and sell each side to a 4Y owner... the V4 will still be more powerful than a std 4Y... hehe!
